Ethanol will deteriorate rubber, and should only be used in vehicles that specifically state that it can be used, and at what percentage of the fuel mix.

Your quad will no workie workie after a little while if you run ethanol.

A car/truck engine will leak like a siv (sp?), over time, if it's not built to run ethanol.

Bad for 2 strokes especially cause it dosen't burn evenly and can create hot spots that will seize a piston, not to mention the green slime it creates in the carb. and related parts.

Another problem is that Fossil Fuels are generally Dirty. Ethonal is more like Alcohol and works like a cleaning agent. So all of the dirt and deposits that your system has from running Fossil Fuels will be broken up and end up in your carbs plugging everything up.

I agree with the above comments, but I also assume this topic is intended to cover ethanol fuel (such as E85), as opposed to the typical pump gasoline that may contain a small amount of ethanol to meet EPA clean air standards.

As far as using pump gas that includes 10% or less ethanol, I've been using that in my ATV (no other choice in my county) for at least a few years and I haven't noticed any negative effects. With that said, I will say that my gas mileage improves in my car or truck everytime that I happen to fill up at a pump outside my county where they sell non-ethanol gasoline. My conclusion is that adding ethanol seems to reduce gas mileage to some degree (maybe 10%).

Not sure if its true, but I've heard that ethanol fuel (like E85) is more likely to cause problems in your engine if the ethanol fuel has a little bit of water contamination (more so than regular pump gas with a little bit of water contaminaion).

Happy trails...

This is because you need 10% to 20% more Ethonal to produce the same amount of power you get from Fossil Fuels.

It's the dirty little secret that the Greenies don't want to talk about.
