Default first timer

Well I finally decided I'd join up since I now have 3 ATVs in the garage. I picked up my third bike tonight, a 2000 Kawasaki Lakota. It keeps my 96 Lakota and 08 Kazuma jaguar company )

Anyhow, it has the front and rear racks, but has the single headlight below the handlebars instead of the dual lights mounted in the racks like my 96. It has the rubber gromets/mounting attachement points on the racks for the dual light setup. Can I add the dual lights and still retain the main light, or will that overload the alternator on this thing?

Second question, the chain seems awefully loose, is there a way to tighten it, never had to mess with my 96 and don't have a manual of any kind (it was fun figuring out how to remove the dang seat to recover it for sure )

And thirdly I picked it up for a song because apart from the chain, it will only stay running with the choke full on. Even if i crank up the idle, as soon as the choke is turned off it dies. Even if you are on the throttle, it just dies out, but when its running with the choke on it idles well but backfires and blows smoke when you get on it. I'm thinking the carb is all sorts of messed up? I've never torn one of these down, is it complicated?

Let me know what you think, thanks!
