Has anyone heard of onyone putting a KLR650 motor in a Mojave chassis?? The motor configurations are real close, because the KLR250 is what the Mojave's engine is based on. If you have any info on this....SHARE! PLEASE!

I thought about doing this conversion. So i went to the dealer and made all kinds of measurements from a klr650. then checked them against my mojave and decided the motor was too tall to fit. thats why i decided to use a ex/ninja 500 engine, its not as tall and you still have to modify the gas tank for clearance. Keep in mind that this was real rough measuring and a lot of guess work, it could work ok but I really think it is too tall to fit in without major alterations.

Since height is the problem I don't see how it can be done with out cutting and rewelding the frame. With the stock motor there is barely enough room to remove the valve cover and even then you have to work at it. A taller motor would require so major work and even then I don't feel the end result would be worth it. Unless the 650 motor had a certain purpose like pulling, I don't know why anyone would bother. If you want more engine you might consider the 3-wheeler Tecate motor conversions they used to do in the 80's and create a Mocat. Jackie Meadows used to race one.
