2002 Prarie 650
#1
I have a 2002 Prarie 650.. cleaned carbs running well while riding. Rough idle. Tried to adjust idel jets.. no change. Now engine starts runs for 10- 20 seconds then dies out. Someone suggested the choke springs. I guess that makes sense.. Any ideas.. if it is the choke springs.. how do I change them
Thanks

If carbs were indeed dirty, then you may still have pilot circuits which are not clean and I'm sure you made sure the pilot jets were clean. Really need to be meticulous to make sure all the little circuits are clean.
Maybe a carb sync is in order.
Also, the float level/s may be off. My street bike became hard to start when one or two of the floats were too high but it would run great otherwise. I'm not sure about these, but on my Kaw Concours, the float level should be about .5mm above the float bowl seam as determined by attaching a clear hose to the drain nipple then letting the fuel fill that hose as you hold it against the carb.

I don't think it choke springs if it dies out.
If you still want to try, you just need to follow the choke cable all the way to the carbs. Springs are at the end of the choke cables (2). You don't change them out. You clean out and reinstall.
