Default KFX 400 Potential Buy

Hey I went and looked at this KFX 400 05. It was awesome. It had a DCM Comp 4 full exhaust, and it's been jetted.

Thing is, this guy never had the title switched over to his name. He has it on hand and everything, just never had it switched over.

If my Dad will only buy a quad with a valid title, what would need to happen for us to buy this quad?

I'm in Ohio, and the title is from Illinois. All we need here in Ohio is a notary stamp so me or my Dad can just go have the title switched. The stamp means that someone from the state saw the guy sign the title meaning it could be switched over.

But, when I asked the guy if it had a notary stamp, he said that the state of Illinois doesn't require a 'stamp' exactly, it just requires the seal of Illinois, which it has. I haven't seen the title yet, but if it has a stamp (seal) is everything good? And, what happens if it doesn't have a stamp (seal)?

Is this something that is close by and not being done online?

I thought Ohio made you have a title in order to get a sticker to ride on state property. Could be wrong about that but I thought I had seen that in here before because it was a change from the past.

I know down here you can apply for a bonded title, but it isn't a quick fix and could cost a few hundred dollars by the time it's all done.

Might want to run the vin by a local law enforcement agency to see if they show it being stolen or not. Just a little extra piece of mind for you.

My Dad is with the county sheriff's office, and running the vin has crossed our minds since it wouldn't be a problem.

This is being done face to face. The quad is about 20-30 min away, so yes it is close.

And, this has nothing to do with state property. Just a simple title transfer. Although in this case, there is nothing simple about it haha.

You still may want to check on the title and state property, just for any future riding you may be doing.

Sounds like you have running the vin covered.

Face to face is a whole lot better with a title issue. At the very least, you may want to add a bill of sale with it too.

Good luck.

Thanks for your help!

My friend has a track at his grandma's house and it's just as intense as any state owned property could be. His cousins ride MX so yea lol.
