well, I have not been able to get on the computer for two weeks. I just got comfortable enough to type laying down. Well I went to a new place that some people owned that charged 5 dollars to let people ride. well we went in after talking to the guy and rode for 30 minutes on a dirt track. Well I know i'm not supposed to jump a utility atv but i was fixing to get a new raptor and I thought what the heck. I kept getting braver and bolder until I launched off a huge jump with my bayou 300, in doing that I got a compressed fracture of my 5th vertebrae leaving me out of school for the rest of the year and now I can't get my new raptor. Now list some injurys you all have had in your iding career.

No injuries to speak of, except for the occasional rolling dismount. How exactly did this happen to you? Did you land on all four wheels and suffer your injury from the hard landing or what?

I got hit by a B&M train, it was doing about 40 mph. It tossed me about 60 feet. For injuries, ahem, broken left ankle (metal plate w\screws), broken right arm requiring a bone graft (metal plate w\screws), shattered right hip including the ball of the thigh bone and dislocation (5 metal plates w\many screws). Then the doctors were trying to figure out what entered just behind my groin and tore back 6" at about 4" deep and had a ball at the end fortunately missing everything. I realized it was the right break lever. That required a skin graft and a couple of months to heal without the use of that area, if you know what i mean. Five months later i got married and was dancing with my new bride. The quad only got a bent handlebar that i bent back and continued to ride until i sold it. I couldn't start my KX500 either so i sold that too. Now that i am divorced and my money is all mine i am amassing my toy collection. I was told being 6'tall @ 260lbs (not all fat) and wearing a helmet saved my life.

yep I landed on all four tires and the impact compacted that part of my spine. When I first hit I could not feel anything from my lower back down. It was just numb and the bike rolled about 20 feet with me on it then I just fell off. my friends were all like get up and shake it off.

Take it from experience, you can injure your back by doing a lot less than what you guys have listed here. And usually when you do, you live it with for the rest of your life. I have a bulging disk that scared the heck out of me several months ago when it caused severe pain in my legs. Fortunately I did not have to go under the knive like a lot of people do. And still, it is said that most back operations produce only limited improvement at best.

Yeah, just like you I once ran around thinking that only old or lazy people screw up their backs.
I know better now.

Savage...how did you manage to get hit by a train? thats kind of a weird thing to happen

as far as injuries go i've been pretty lucky only having a concussion and bloody nose and a couple broken cracked off pieces of fenders and bars the worst time i crashed, other times its messed up wrists and such.

I was supposed to go riding with four other people, my first time in a group. While waiting for the last person i saw tire marks entering the brush at the end of the street. I had to investigate. There was an embankment leading down to the tracks. After checking both ways I slowly went down. As soon as my tire touched the track the horn blew. If i tried to bail the tracks were to my right, to my left the train would hit the atv then me and the embankment was behind me. So i turned the bars to the left and punched it. A couple more seconds and i would have made it, as you can see by my story the train hit me and not the quad. I guess i was using too much body english.

My injuries are all snowboarding related: Torn right ACL and meniscus-surgery Jan. 2000, Broke right fibula, broke left wrist, 2 concussions, and bad shoulders. Physical therapy can do wonders if YOU are willing!
No injuries from the quad yet. I had a good roll over and I thought I broke my arm but the ER x-rays didn't show anything.
Good luck and do what your PT tells you!
