So, I'm trading my 1995 suzuki kingquad 300 4x4 for a 199? kawasaki bayou 300 4x4. The kq has had brand new engine rebuild but still smokes and is hard to start as well as iffy brakes and cracked up plastics. The bayou has new front wheel bearings and suspension bushings, doesn't smoke, has a mint body, and needs rear brake work. The bayou also has a 1.5 inch lift kit with new 12 inch itp steel wheels and unknown size super swamper vampires. So I have a few questions. How much is each quad worth as is (links included to both quads with pics and more info) What problems do the bayous have that I should look for? Does anybody know the final drive ratios for the bayou in high and low? I found a thread talking about the kq ratio in super low and 1st being like 150:1 on highlifter awhile back. Can anybody give me an estimate to the year of the bayou by the plastics? What year did the bayous start to get front disk brakes? i've heard the bayou is more fun to ride and has more power and pick up, anybody who has had or ridden both please leave your input.

i enjoy my bayou, I got to say I never played on a kingquad. Low range is pretty powerful on bayou nice for trails so rpm stay in a good range. High is more open field. top speed for me was 40 mph tested on gps speedo. I kind of dis like the all time 4wd, but has semi to come in handy. helps on turning a lot.

You can tell the yrs of the bayou by decals. From his pictures am saying 97. Speaking of I tried to buy your atv 2 weeks ago :lmao. End up buying a 95 bayou 300 4x4 for 700 bucks. Only thing I don't like is all time 4wd. But I got to say I haven't got stuck nor close to it just yet. ^_^
