'96 Bayou electrical issues
#1
I have a '96 Bayou 300 4x4 with some electrical issues. I had it idling yesterday and it died completely could not restart either with switch or pull. I tried jumping the solenoid, it just turned over and over, no firing. Battery is completely charged. tested the handlebar kill switch, seems good (continuity when off, break of current when on).
A little back history. A while back I was riding a short distance at night, got half way and stopped, shut machine off. went to go back, turned it on, turned on headlights and the machine idled real rough, almost to point of dying. Haven't ridden at night since so didn't really think of it again.
When lights off it runs pretty good, maybe a bit on the cold side need to choke a bit early on.
So now, nothing. don't know if it's the voltage regulator, ecu, neutral switch.
Is there way to test the regulator? Ecu? where is the neutral switch? can this be tested?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
