Default newbie with a few questions for clamp on filter

Hey guys. I got a Kawasaki Lakota a few months ago. Picked it up in good running condition for $450. Not pretty, but runs good and new rear tires and got some hole shot fronts for 70 bucks like new. First off, I found the rubber intake tube is pretty much trashed ad from something else once I took it off, is jetting required for a clamp on uni filter? I found out through some searching that a 2 1/4x4" filter will work correct?

And one more problem, I have a leak coming from the tube that comes from under the carb and goes no where. Or possibly the carb its self?

Also, the voltage rectifier is unplugged, can this cause any damage?

Sorry for the list. Ive rode fourwheelers, but never worked on one besides the oil change on this one.

The filter should not require you to rejet, the hose below the carb is leaking most like do to the float sticking, clean the cab should rectify this. As for the voltage regulator I would think it needs to Ben plugged in.

Not to be rude but can anyone else chime in so I am sure?

I'm new and want all the input I can get.

Thanks a bunch!

If the clamp on has the proper I.D. and enough clearance it will work. Remember you can't go through much mud/water with a clamp on. Well, not unless you love rebuilding small engines.

You may need to rejet for the clamp on. There are a lot of variables but it is just safer to throw a bigger main in at least, then do a plug chop. It might have good power running lean, but that isn't a good recipe for longevity.

Agree the tube is an overflow, and your floats are sticking or need adjustment or the float valve needs cleaning/replacing.

No idea why your rectifier is unplugged other than it is busted? The gut tells me it needs one cause I doubt Kawie is so generous as to just install them unwarranted.

Okay. Thanks, I knew it couldn't be good that it was unplugged, but its a whole wiring mess down there once I took the front plastics off. The more repair the more I regret buying it. Luckily I only paid 450 for it. Lol. If I fixed the card and intake I might just turn and sell it before I get too deep in it.
