Most I've seen in manuals calls for 10w 40 atv oil for wet clutches. I use Valvoline brand atv oil. You can get it from Autozone. You could upgrade the stock fuel filter on that thing and it won't give you as much trouble. Change the fuel filter too. I think it has shaft drive so you'll want to change the gear oil in there as well : ). Some simple maintenance things to keep it going longer.

Cool

I had that same model and had fun with it and wish I still had it. I bought the rear rack for mine through my dealer, not sure where you'd find one today.

I would look on ebay. Or go to the classifieds section on 3WheelerWorld.com. Pretty active community there with bunch of parts.
Or see if you can't find a parts bike for sale with the racks intact (might be rare).

Go here: KLT200/250 Service Data

Has all the basic service information and the amounts necessary. On that bike you have a sight glass. So you just wait till the bike is really cold, change the oil and keep the level between the two marks and you're good.

Another thing to look into is making sure the Air filter is in good condition. Don't want a bunch of dust and crud getting into your top end. Initial maintenance is some what pricey on these old bikes (and can be time consuming). But the way I see it? Do these things and it will last you another 30 years : ).
