First off, is there anything that I should look for when looking to buy? How fast were they anyway, and I found one I might get for about $150. The motor was taken apart last year and the guy that has it hasnt put it together yet. Supposedly everything is in the boxes and if I put it together right it should run good. Should
I take it, or wait and look for something else.

I owned one years back. I had trouble with exhaust leaks around the cylinder head. The strongest point about the tecate 3 was the motor in my opinion. It was faster than my buds 85 atc250r.
I would estimate about as fast as a 400ex. If you have never rode a 3-wheeler....you will definately be in for a ride!

I don't know if I would be too excited about picking up a basket case for $150 unless I already owned a Tecate and needed parts. You should check it out throughly before buying. See if the machine is indeed complete. You need to take into consideration that the 3-wheeler is 15 yrs old and I bet a lot of the OEM parts have been discontinued. Also there is a reason why the machine is in pieces and the owner never got it running again. I've just seen too many of these types of projects passed off to high school kids that had the enthusiam but not the experience to realize that the pile of parts will take a pile of money to get running again.

150 bucks?! where do you find deals like that, hell, for a rolling chassis you wont find one that cheap. these are rare and becoming collectors bikes. Tell you what buy it I take a picture, I would prob buy it off of you!

did someone say that it might be faster than a 400ex, yeha.. you can pull a wheelie and leave the 400 when he is tacked out!

Well, I dont know if im going to end up getting it or not, It was really late when I typed the first post and I forgot one thing, its that yes the engine is in a box, but all that needs done to it is a few minor things and to be put back in the frame. I'm going to talk to the guy some more and I'll let everyone kno if I get it.
