I have 2 questions that I have for people that know some stuff about the 220...
1. what is the top speed? I've gotten mine up to 45 before.(engine completely was at it's top speed, would not crank out anymore)
2.does the 220 have a rev limiter, and if so at what RPM is it set at?

had my wifes to 44 mph. I don't think it or the Lakota has a rev limiter.

To all:

I have had my 220 up to around 47 or so flat-land riding on a level dirt road, and close to 50 downhill.

Amazingly enough, I think there is a rev-limiter on 5th gear, or it is just geared so that you cannot over-rev the thing. Although, I do know that you can blow the engine in 1-4th gear, and maybe neutral and reverse :-(..

Any other problems with your 220? I had to re-install those pesky rack holders (little u-shaped black rubber thingy's) that are inbetween the metal shackel that holds down two parts of the racks. The little rubber things worked their way out and caused the rack to bounce around for about a half year. Probably stemming from the fact that I attempted to climb a tree with the machine.. Lol... long story. I had the thing up on two wheels almost at a 90 degree angle against a tree.

How often do you change your oil and what kind do you use? I have an awful knocking noise from the valves rapping hard when I shift from 3rd to 2nd and sometimes from 2nd to 1st. Does yours have this problem? I figure it will fix up with a trip to the local dealer for a tune-up. Oh well, screw it! It runs just fine so why mess with it?!

Also, another warning! NEVER overtighten the exhaust cover. It may look like it needs it, but most likely the screws and bolts are seized in there, and you will thus break off the screw.. Found this out by experience! oops. Will have to tap them out and put some new ones in.

Ok this is getting long, but another question- What have you replaced or upgraded on your machine? My exhaust is going down the drain fast over the past year. Getting louder and louder. What's a good exhaust system that wont cost an arm and a leg, but still provide good performance better than or equal to the stock one?

Another thing that is debated by most 220 owners is the problem of push steering. Yes, I admit it was TERRIBLE when I first got the machine. I only was around 100 pounds. Now that I have less rounded tires up front, and weigh 40 more pounds, it is far less noticable. There is no special setup in the suspension or whatever, but the only way I think to cure this problem is to buy less rounded tires. I have Titan Fast Trekkers up front fyi.

Any other complaints? Not too many more I can think of off hand! I ride this thing like a beast and it stands up to the abuse. When Im 10 + miles in the woods, its a good feeling to know that your machine wont break down and is going to get you out of there. Bayou220atv - Im ur age.. Just turning 16 tommorow on easter :-),.. Where do u usually ride? I ride the machine around our family's cottage nw of alpena, mi. U know wher that is?!

Well sorry that got long.. Bored to hell here.
