tecate4 question
#1
i was wondering how fats these things go stock, and how reliable they are. should i sell my CR to buy one? i would like to know if they would be a 400ex......and how they make as a trail/dune/open pit bike, thanks alot........

They are very fast, even stock. I think around 70. As far as reliability you shouldn't have any problems if you do routine maintenance. You should also have no problem smoking a 400ex, though the ex is a real nice trail bike. I love my tecate and wouldn't ride anything else that is produced today.

I have both, a 400ex and a T4. In a drag race the T4 runs circles around my 400ex, but in the woods I would have no other bike than the 400ex. The top speed for the T4 is higher than a Raptor (73mph), the T4 was under the gun at a real drag strip and clocked at 74.75mph here's the article:

I have put a few hours on my T-4 now and haven't had any trouble. It still works good in the woods, maybe not quite as good as a four stroke, but it is still fun to ride in the woods. I have found that the T-4 is PERFECT for climbing sand hills! It keeps going, and going, and going etc.

Did you guys read the article? I can't believe the Raptor owners aren't in here bashing and saying "there is no way a 250 beat the Raptor's top speed!".
NJG86, my T4 is a great bike, and I love it alot, but it is no where near as fun in the woods as my 400ex. My T4 starts every stomp, but the electric start on the Honda is the best! (Maybe I am getting old)HeHe! I think you will have a hard time finding a nice Tecate4 for less than 3K. Even if you do, the parts are VERY hard to come by. Most of the parts are discontinued, you can't even buy plastic for a T4.
Even though I own one and love it, I would suggest a 400ex, Raptor or Shee, just because you can get parts for those bikes.

i origianlly wanted a suzuki LT250R,,,,,but i think the tecates look cooler, and all of the ones i seen for sale look like new.
i wouldnt be doing so much woods riding though,im gonna be doing more "open" riding then woods. thanks for everyones help,im gonna try to find the tecate for the price i need(i found a few on cycle trader) but if not,i guess ill look for the quadracer.
