Default Kaw Prairie 700 Coverter Cover Issue

I have a 04 Kaw Prairie 700 4x4 that would not move hardly at all. Took the convertor cover off to look at the belt and clutch and the hole inside was covered in oil. Oil was everywhere. once i cleaned everything off and put the belt back on and the clutch back on it ran just fine. My question is to where all this oil came from and how do I keep it from getting in there again. It smells like gear oil to me. any ideas? Thanks and sorry if this has been posted before i couldn't find anything. I'm also new to this site. Thanks again

Have no clue as to how gear oil would get in there, however, how is the crankcase oil. I could see a leak in a crank seal allowing oil into that area. Are there any hoses connected from the belt housing to either of the diffs? Could someone have sabotaged you?

Default Not sure

Crankcase oil as in like where the motor oil goes? The oil in the motor locals be changed but it isn't low at all. Not sure on hoses or anything will dig more into tomorrow morning and let you know. It may not be gear oil but that's just hat it kind of smelt like. It's really runny and thing though like it maybe ahbe been mixed with water maybe. It's pretty black too. Also The clutch is making a good noise. Bearing maybe? I have a video of it but it won't let me post it.

Crankcase (engine) oil will be runny, gear oil is thicker. Mixing with water normally turns the oil into a thick gray/white sludge kind of mess. Need to determine whether noise is a bearing or part of the clutch. Is it possible someone overfilled the crankcase?

Default Maybe

There's a good possibility someone may have over filled the crankcase. I got it used with this issue so not sure what the previous owner may have done. It is a gray black runny mess inside there. More black then gray. Could be other issues other then a bearing with the clutch noise. Had to order a puller mine would not work. Going to look more st it later today and see if I can see any leaks anywhere. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the help

Got a chance to take a look at it and fro what I can see it is leaking from behind the clutch. Won't have the puller until probbaly Wednesday or so to get it off and actually look behind it. Any dead what might be leaking behind the clutch?
