Just finished breaking in my KVF650 and want to switch to synthetic.
What weight and brand is the best for this machine?

If your clutch uses the same oil as your motor as in my Mojave, you should not use synthetic as it will cause your clutch to slip. Just use regular oil.

Actually there is nothing inside but gears because the belt system acts as the clutch.

I answered before I thought-sorry for the useless reply. Any synthetic that meets the API standards your manual calls for would be good.

I would get a synthetic or blend that's designed for motorcycles. They are formulated differently than the regular automotive type. For one thing, they don't contain friction modifiers, so they won't make a wet clutch system slip (although that doesn't pertain to you're situation I thought I would clarify that "clutch slip" deal) And they contain additives which protect the metal better, but aren't safe for catayltic converters, so automotive synthetics ain't got um. Mobil1 even makes one for V-twin bikes, but any synth will likely be just as good.
