My bayou is backfiring through the pipe when i am moving, and when it is idling it shoots out black smoke, its definatly black, not blue. The plug looks like someone rubbed charcoal on the end of it. What happened to it, the other day it was fine, I just started up a hill and it started running like crap. Ever since then its just ran like crap.

Put a new plug in it and also clean out your carb and if this does not help you might want to change your jetting. I don't know for sure if that is whats wrong with it, just trying to help.

Sounds like you may have a burnt or broken valve.

I think the float might be stuck or the choke is hung open.

Well, this was the first ride after I got the valves adjusted that lasted longer than five minutes, and I borrowed gas from a friend that he said was regular but might have been gasahol. If the gas had ethanol in it could it have messed up the rubber parts inside the carb and make something hang open?? Other than that i dont know what to do, I really dont want to take it to the shop because i just spent over $250 to get a broken oil line fixed and the valves adjusted. When the valves were adjusted, could the mechanic have tightened one too tight?? But as of now this thing is really pissing me off, it keeps breaking and I havent been abusing it, all I do is cruise on country roads and I was it down after every ride. Also, the plug was brand new, and the jetting was done by the shop a while ago and it ran fine untill now.

If my quad still has the factory Warranty should the shop adjust the valves for free plus we got the 4 year bumper to bumper Warranny. If I keep having problems from mine I'm going to sell it and get a Warrior or a 400ex. I love the 400ex It's a wheelie Machine.
