you guys that think thescrambler will win, you must be forgeting that a scrambler is a utility with no racks and sporty plastic, and one is a v-twin, and 150ccs bigger, than the other now whos gonna win?

I had a Scrambler 400 and nothing could touch it then. I know that it would run up into the 60s. On the other hand, I just saw a 650 get gone. He blew by me on my 3004x4 by at least 20 m.p.h. and I was doin' 40. I asked him how fast was he going and he said it registered 60 but wouldn't read any higher though he said it was still building speed. That thing can rock. They are both definitely fast, maybe someone will line 'em up. Then we'll know. I'm gonna say 650.

I no longer own it, and it didn't stay stock for very long, but my old 400 Scrambler 2X4 is still faster than my DS. I have not even seen a Kow Prairie 650, but would bet a pay check my old Scrambler would make it look like a trainer quad for my wife.
Simple math,
65 plus horse, 500 pounds, squeze the triger and point.
Stock I think it only had 36 *****.
I bought it for $4700 new,
put another $2500 into it,
And now it realy pisses me off (sold to a friend I still ride with)
And reliability was never a problem. Even at 65 horse.
Kind of wish I never sold it now.
Just kiddin.

The 650 will out run 500 scrambler pretty easily.Also willout run 400ex's in sand in drags for 200 to 250 ft.It get's great hole shots,when locked in 4 wheel drive,with differential locked in. My ds650 and raptors can't out run it for 200ft in sand at L.A.Dunes 2002 650 praire / 2000 ds650 / 2000 trailblazer / 97 blaster / 86 250r and 350x 3 wheelers

With nothing more than a K&N filter & boot I was able to walk away from a 500 Scrambler on my 400 Scrambler, so if the machines were both stock I would have my money on the Kow., If it was a modded 400 Scrambler, DREAM ON PRAIRIE.

A Scrambler 400 is faster than a 500 anyway.

Of course a modified scrambler 400 will beat a prairie 650. But a modified V TWIN 650 would be a modified 400. DREAM ON POLARIS

92LT,

And what mods would that be? Porting, new reed valves, better expansion chamber, I don't think so. About all you can do is to add pipes to it (if they ever come out with a set), cams, and boring it out. Getting more horsepower out of a four stroke V-twin is going to be a lot different than getting horsepower out of a twin cylinder, two stroke Banshee. I doubt if any of the major manufacturers would even put out a set of pipes for it.

Hey Supercrash, When is the next time you will be at LA Dunes let me know i will bring the sport 400 (bone stock) you bring the 650 and we will do a little field research and find our once and for all which is faster. Then let the board know.

P.s. would love to try out that DS. never got to ride one

HyperSport400XC, the point I was trying to make was that lets compare stock vs. stock, not stock vs. modified bikes. Not how to get more power out of a 4 stroke vs. 2 stroke.
