17 at 7500 rpm

I consider my 220 as a dependable, no frills ATV and one of the last "pure utility" quads. Because of it's price, often ends up being the first ATV for many kids looking for a faster and more sporty ride. Have seen many a post from such kids looking for a way to "hop up" their 220.

A great value if you're a smaller (6ft or less) rider and don't care about who gets there first.

It was taken from the list of specifications as it appears in the Kawasaki shop manual for the KLF220.

I should add that it includes the two letters "PS" after the value of 17. I suspect this may mean the actual horsepower of the engine and not that actually produced at the rear wheels. There is a loss in HP that results from the 90 degree turn between the crankshaft and driveshaft.

hey yamahagye, hows it goin man?

The 220 is a real fun ATV to ride. My friend has one, that I ride just as much as him. Like someone else said, its a no frills atv. You can take it just as many places as all the others, and still ride it "sporty" I did a hella wheelie on his one time(on accident) Take it easy.

it usually is printed right on the title or certificate of origin if you bought it new.

Hes right that does sound way to high because the mojave only has like 17hp and there is no way the 220 has more hp!!

The lakota has 13.9 and the 300EX has 13.7 stock. This I know for sure, at the rear wheel.

Kawi has the mojave listed at 20 HP. I always took this as at the crank, but they do not say where from.

I have a 03 bayou 250 and it isn't close to the lakota.

I have ridden it many times and it does have graet accelleration if you can get the shifter to move fast enough. In higher gears it seams to have more of a mid to top power range.

I have also taken it through all kinds of mud, hills and even threw the endero trails, it handles it's self just fine and never gets stuck.

It also is waaaaay lighter than the lakota. My lakota is stripped down to nothing for racing and the 250 is still atleast a 100 pounds lighter.

I would say top speed is about 45 MPH. I also agree that it's a all around quad with no factory flaws or defects.
