Need advise on widening Mojave stance
#3
If you want a cheap way to widen the frt, you can turn your rims around backwards. You have to either weld up the valve stem hole or put a valve stem in it backwards and then drill a new hole for the valve stem in the other side of the wheel. This will widen the frt about 4 inches. You can buy aftermarket wheels like Douglas that are already offset to the outside as well. For the rear you have to use spacers or a wide axle. I do not recomend the spacers but they are a cheap way at about 70 bucks compared to 300 or more for an axle. I would get the axle. I bought a Dura Blue Eliminator for 299. I forget where I got it but it was one of the Mail order places you see in the mags. making a Mojave wider will help cornering stability but it will make it hard to start off while turning in tight trail situations, especially when its slick. Making it longer if you go wider will help tremendously. You will need to see Lurch's buddy for an extended swing arm to do this or you can cut and extend your stock one.
