I have a question, I read something a while back about sprocketts and tire sizes. I just bought my 97 lakota, it has 20 inch tires on the rear, should I change the sprockett to a 13 or leave it as a 12. I remember reading something about not needing to change it if you go with smaller or larger rears. Help?

Gaff Thanks for the reply. So your saying that it really won't matter. I am going with the 13t sprocket. will it wind out faster or shorten the gears? what will be the result of the sprockett with the smaller 20 inch tires, basically what should I expect to gain or loose. Thanks

 

with the stalk tires you gain longer more high speed gears(with 13T sprocket), I personaly felt a slight loss in bottom and mid ranges. and I mean very slight loss.
I don't know what mods you have but at stalk you must feel like short shifting to stay in the power. With the sprocket on, your gears will be much longer and you end up being faster because the use of say third gear has a much wider range than having to go from second to third then back to second.
I know this sounds confusing but realy I tried it and it realy complaments a stalk bike well and with mods wow I believe you will have something.
At $6.99 (rocky mountain atv) it has to be tried.
I took my lakota to all different terrains and tracks, and realy it was much better.
I realy hope some one else gets one soon. I would like to hier thier opinion.
I hope to have the rest of my mods this week so I should have a full report soon.
