I don't have a mohave, but I have a Prairie. The dealer put in too much oil in the motor. The oil went right up the crackase vent tube and into the airbox. I would say there was about 1/4 to 1/2 qt. of oil in my airbox. It made it smoke too because the oil went right into the carbs. I cleaned it out and put in the correct amount fresh oil and the smoking went away.

Hey Pringles:

I think knutz is right, what he said is a lot more understanding. What I told you was what I heard from my local shop, so much for going back to them. I still think oil gets back there sometimes from the front end being up but not that much oil, I have only had a little flow back into my airbox. Just wanted to let you know I made a mistake sorry about that, hope it all works out.

Hey thanks for the correction Knutz!

Hey, thanks for not taking the correction personal Hossman. I wasn't trying to step on your toes, I just wanted to get him the good info. I'm not familiar with exactly were the crank case breather is on a Mojave, but most quads would have to be darn near upside down to get oil to flow out of the breather. Just for every ones information, I build high performance ATV motors for a living, so I've got just a little experience[I'm not trying to brag, just show credability] Check out my personal quad on the cover of Dirt Wheels magazine this month[ok, I am bragging there, LOL].

what's up:

Hey no problem knutz. The tube your talking about is in a akward place on the Mojave. The quad only has be at about a 45 degree angle and oil will flow not much but it will. Hey I look forward to your quad in dirtwheels.

My brother's '94 Mojo did that but I haven't noticed it on my '01. I'll have to take a look tonight.

The problem is blow bye.
I see you have a 01 model, have you considered that the rings have not seated yet.

I hier this problem with guys who rebuild thier motors and install the rings up side down.
I've also seen this in new motors with high comp, but the rings haven't been seated yet.
You say you run the oil level towards the upper mark, why don't you try running it in the midle.
If this is a problem with the mojave then a company named swedgelock makes a stainless steal one psi check valve that may work.
But realy this would concern me and I would install a gauge some how and get some real crank case psi and then go from thier.

Last night I checked my airbox and sure enough the drain hose was filled with motor oil. I'm not going to worry about it since it is a common thing. I have a feeling the oil gets in there when you wheelie. I'm positive the rings are seated because I broke the engine in exactly how Kawi recommended and my exhaust has never shown any sign of blue smoke.
