Just bought a new Kawi 650
#1
Hello all,
I went out and took advantage of Kawi's $99/mo for 2yrs deal and bought the 650 Prairie. As of today, it has a whopping 2.1 miles on it. I am anxious to get the winch and hitch mounted and then go find some deep mud holes!
I also have a 96 Banshee that I have been riding for years now and all I can say is after being used to the power, accelleration and performance from the Banshee I new that if I was going to buy a 4x4 quad, it would have the be the praire.
Quick question, where are you 650 owners mounting the winch switch?

First of all congratulations....I picked mine up Friday eve and spent the day riding Saturday and I'm really pleased so far. I have the warn A2500 on my 650, the holder for the remote switch will fit onto the left side of the handlebar just outside of the cover. Im not sure if this will help, you didnt specify which series of winch you were getting. Oh and the connection for the switch looks good mounted opposite of the accessory outlet, it blends in a bit with both side of the upper fender having outlets.

When I bought the quad, they gave me a 2000lbs superwinch and a warn mounting plate. After trying to figure out for 30mins how the two mesh up, I realized it just wasn't going to work. So I tool the superwinch back and paid $75 more to get the Warn 2000 and will be in at the end of the week. I am anxious to get it installed.

I mounted the switch inside the plastic handlebar cover.

I got the 2500lb kit with the remote handheld switch. I like my new switch location better.

I have the Warn plow that Kawi sells as a stock unit. I wont be doing alot of plowing so I didnt get carried away with a high end plow. I have a friend with what looks to be the exact same plow and mount setup on his Kodiak and he does more plowing than I will be doing and his works really well for him. One of the big reasons I liked this plow over a few of the others I looked at was the quick on and off feature of the plow. Once I have the mount bolted underneath you can remove or install the plow in seconds. The mount does cut down on GC about 1 1/2" so for the summer months I'll remove the mount. The plow itself has a 48" blade and the overall length from front edge to rear of mounting arms is 46" so it should fit one way or another in a van, even if you had to remove the plow from your quad. Hope this helps.
