I've never heard of anything. The Mojave has been around for so long that any problem areas have been well sorted out. The only thing I can think of is if the owners didn't adjust their valves properly.

The one me and my buddy had, well it had issues all around, but mostly with the top end, and the head in particular. When wondering why the timing chain was constantly needing tension, we discoverd that it was because the valves were being "sucked" through the head, go figure! After having the head re-machined and steel inserts put into place, we notcied the bike lossing alot of power, well because we didnt keep the oil at the very top of the little window (mind you, it was maybe 1/8 under it) the cam chain was not getting oil and burned up. After fixing that problem, the valves were constantly becoming off, it was after this problem, that we sold the gem so some other idiot, who later learned that it started hard, and after the kid was using starting fluid for a good half hour he got some life, but unfortunatley all the oversprayed fluid caught fire when the bike backfired because of the valves being off. But other than that it was a nice bike, stoped and rode really smooth and i always liked kick start.
