TECATE 4 and WOODS RACING
#1
i want to start racing my tecate and i want yalls opinion om the best set up for woods.. such as a-arms, bumpers, handle bars, grab bars, shocks, and so on. the motor is modded to almost its fullest potential so i dont need any more power secrets. but if you could tell me what i might need other wise and where i could get it i would be greatly appreciative.
thanks

deffinently go with new shocks, i would say a TC racing dual rate or sumthin along those lines. also, u must widen your quad, but u dont wanna overdue it, then it would be hard on tight trails. i went with offset wheels and +1 1/2 +1 lonestars. a good +2-+4 adjustable axle prolly wouldnt hurt either. just my input. oh, what all do u have done to the motor?

Watch your width here, I'm going with +1 offsets, but thats it. Remember the wider you are the more turning radious you need.
Also remember you need some ground clearence under that sprocket. I don't know about long a-arms, I thought about it and you just hang them out thier to get wacked by a rock or stump.
I would love to have one of those tecates to race!!!!!
Good luck.
Don't forget the skids and tires!!

the motor has a 300cc big bore kit and im running kx500 reeds and cage, fmf fatty pipe and silencer, and k&n air filter..thank for the opinions guys..
do you think off set wheels would be better then spacers?

whoa, nice motor! i had mine bored to 265, i still wanted to be legal for the 250 motorcross class, boyesen torque reeds, ported and polished head, high compresion wiseco, bigger carb, fmf fatty pipe with fmf silencer, uni filter. i was pretty pretty pleased with my motor, so i would imagine that your quad hauls! in my opnion the offset wheels would be better, i just dont like spacers, i've even heard that they can warp your rotors if you get big air, plus you can improve looks of your quad with the wheels.

I posted the thread about spacers six months ago, some said get them some said it put to much stress on the spindles. All had good opinions.
My deciding factor was, that a set of durablue +1 spacers were $89, and thats 2 in a set. A setc of two off set rims goes about the same.
You will probably have the same opinion I have.

yeah i remeber reading your post about the spacers. i think if i do anything i will go with the off set wheels. and about the motor. it had all this done to it when i got it. the qaud hauls, but hear is the kicker it has a 46 tooth rear sprocket and i havent even gotten into 5 gear yet (i know it has 6) but my freind has this a really long paved road so im going to put on a 39 tooth sprocket and let her rip..talk about eyes watering.
RiverRacer04 - do you know how much horse power your tecate put out after you had all the work done to the motor?
thanks

Nemisis,
If you go from a 46 to a 39 tooth rear sprocket, you will gain a lot of top end MPH, but loss the low and mid range pull you are used too. If you have not used fifth yet, you will never hit it with a 39 tooth sprocket.

hey nemisis,,
nope, i aint got any idea,, i've heard estimates anywhere from 35 to 50. most ppl that knew what they were talkin about said they figured i had about 40-45 horses, and i pretty well agree, but i aint gonna say how much for sure cause i never had the quad dyno'd and i dont know, but i did get clocked runnin 82 miles an hour, so it couldnt be bad. do you have any idea how much hp your quad is runnin?,, i know what you mean about the sprocket, mine was runnin a big rear sprocket when i first got it, but i put stock gearing back on it.
