I am finally getting the super mojave project together. My son and I are getting some things together now. Was supposed to be his Christmas but we are running behind. For a couple months we have been making a arms, swing arm, steering stem, and modifying the frame. But now we are actually putting parts on the frame.

Some of the stuff we have done:
make +3 +1 chromoly a arms
make +2.75 chromoly swing arm
make chromoly antivibe steering stem
make spring loaded wrist saver stem mount
remove frt muffler mount and support bar from frame
remove frt horns from frame and add tubing and weld in nuts
for a custom AC bumper that we are making
make raised and adjustable frt shock mounts
add welded in pegs to the frame and foot pegs for mounting
the nerfs (no need for cheesy u bolt clamps)
added welded on tabs to mount shock resvoirs in a neat and
clean way

It uses 250r custom axis frt shocks and a custom axis rear shock for a DC2 lonestar no link setup. Frt travel is 10 inches and rear travel is almost 12 inches. A arms are fully adjustable. Stainless socket head bolts with nylocks used throughout. The steering stem I made uses a Houser antivibe clamp. It will have all kinds of goodies when completed. You can see some of the begining stages of assembly at

Let me know how you like what we have so far.

That's some really nice work you've done there Mojaveaddict. I like the fully adjustable A-arm set up. Looks like camber and caster adjustments would be a snap. Are those just heavy duty tie rod ends from an auto or some thing?

Mojaveaddict:

Very very nice work you have done. I like everything about it, the paint even looks nice. How long did it take you to make the swingarm, and
a-arms. Depending on how long it took have you ever thought of maybe making some more for fellow Mojave riders. Please keep us posted with info and pictures, I want to find out as much info about modified Mojaves that I can, becauase it will help me when I get ready to fix mine up.

Keep up the good work!

See ya

Thanks guys. I have worked real hard on the project and the nice compliments make me feel good.

2000MOJAVE, Yes the ball joints are automotive tie rod ends. Thats what most all the aftermarket a arm companies like leager, houser, lonestar, and most others use. I bought the ones i used from Houser Racing cheaper than I could buy the same joint at a discount auto parts store though.

Hossman, thanks for the compliment on the paint. It was powdercoated at a local shop. Cost about 200 bucks total to coat the frame and just about every piece of the quad. It took a long time (working only an hour or three a day)to make the swing arm and a arms. I had to first make a jig using the stock parts and then modify it for the extensions. The a arm jig will make +2+1 or +3+1 arms and the swing arm jig will make stock, +2.75 or +4 swing arms. Now that the jigs are made I can make them faster. The project mojave is my sons but I have a mojave too. Next I will make a set for mine. My time is very limited and I can only work on this stuff a few hours a week but I might would make some for you guys later on.

We have some more done since those pics. I will post new pics soon as to the current progress. I cant wait to see how this thing will handle.

Wow! That is a nice quad. It looks like you spent a lot of man hours fabricating the swingarm and a-arms. I can't wait to hear how it rides and handles.

Was the engine powdercoated also?? I like that color and am thinking of doing it to my engine. What color is that, and what did you use to paint it?!

The engine is not powdercoated. It is painted with VHT Nucast spray paint. It is the spray paint that they sell in speed shops and places to paint cast iron exhaust manifolds. Good to 1500 degees like header paint. Made to have a bear cast iron look.

If you do paint it be sure and clean the engine very good to get the paint to stick. I am worried about some places on mine that might wear off easy. If it comes off it will really look bad with the old black showing through. I just hope it stays on til we get our new engine built. All the parts of it will be glass beaded to the bear aluminum for a nice hassle free look.

hope this helps

By the way, how do you like the 13/41 gearing with your 20" tall tires. I am thinking of running that same setup. I now have 13/43 with 22" holeshot xct. They are too tall for mx but I dont want an 18" tire because we ride it recreationaly too. I haven't done the math, but 13/41 with 20s would probably be close to what I have now.

most of the welding is tig. I can't weld worth a crap, so i fab and fit all the pieces and tack weld them together and then have a friend of mine named Hez weld them. He is an awesome welder. I will weld the jigs and stuff together where it doesn't matter what it looks like. The motor in the frame is modded with some good stuff but we will build another motor after we get the thing together and the handling all worked out. the new motor will have it all, my son finally has another job, he is in high school and plans to spend most of his money buying parts for us to build a new motor.
