mojave mods

I'm leaning towards a Mojave and need some aftermarket info. Which Supertrapp would be the best for trail riding, the IDS2 or the racing series. On a jet kit, which one will give you the best performance boost, a K&N or Dynojet kit? THANKS

For trail riding I'd stick w/the IDS2 quiet series-the race core is much louder. The Dyno & K&N kits are pretty much the same. Save some money and just buy individual jets from your local dealer-I get mine for $3.11 each from Parker Yamaha.

I received the DynoJet kit as a Christmas gift and found that it really helped my Mojave out powerwise. It now revs more freely and has an easier time pulling each gear. The motor runs more smoothly so I think it was worth the $50. Gaff had a post about the diffeence between the DynoJet kit and simply rejetting with stock parts. He said the money went into the design of the needle meaning the taper and so forth. Even though a guy could save money by purchasing different stock needles and jets I don't believe you would gain the same amount of performance.
The DynoJet instructions are nice since they tell you how to jet the machine for altitude and if an aftermarket pipe is present. That was pretty worth while info to me. The other thing to think about is how much your time is worth. Changing out the main jet in the Mojave required me to R&R both fenders and the tank which added an hour to the job, give or take a beer. I know I wouldn't want to have to do it all over again if my main jet turned out to be too lean. To each his own, but I'd rather ride than fiddle fart with the small stuff.
