650 Questions
#1
I've had my 650 for a few weeks now, but yesterday was my first opportunity to take it off road. This is my first belt drive and first 4x4 quad. I noticed that when changing transmission ranges that there was several occaisions when there was a bit of grinding when changing ranges. Is this normal for a 650? Does this indicate that the linkage may be out of adjustment? I also noticed that after stopping and changing in and out of four wheel drives there were some strange clunking noises coming from the front end. It sounded like it was having a hard time changing to the newly selected mode. Has anyone experienced any of these noises? I was impressed overall with the performance, just a bit scary hearing noises like that coming from a new and expensive machine.

Your 2 problems are 650 typical, I think I saw somewhere in here an adjustment for the shifter linkage, and what you here in the frontend is the unit disengaging, I think this is probally O.k. as long as it doesnt continue for an extended period.

The grinding noise you hear is the gear not fully engaging. Mine did this until it was broken in. The front in clunking went away after I changed my front end oil. I put synthetic oil in the front and it seems to have made it steer easier as well as mking the 4wd to 2wd transition a little faster.
