How does everyone find the 650 on fuel? Most of my riding is slow, muddy, rocky trails. I find it can be a guzzler. I was out a couple of weeks ago with a couple of guys on 400's. We did some slow trail driving and some rails-to-trails. After first part of trip we stopped for gas. I put 6 bucks in, they put 4 bucks in ($2 each) to fill. None of us take it easy on our machines. What has everyone's experience been?

 

It loves gas, the 650 will pass everthing, but a gas station, LOL!! Its like having two 315cc engines, so twice the gas almost.

 

Mine seems to use the same if not a little less gas than the griz 660 I ride with.
It also seems to use less gas than a 400 I ride with.

I guess I am not saying that it is as good as a manual clutch quad is, but it seems to not suck it down any faster than other stuff.

 

I can't complain about the fuel consumtion on my 650 because my 760cc Superjet watercraft will burn 5 gallons in 1 1/2 hours. My Banshee will burn 5 gallon in about 4 hours. The 650 will run all day on 5 gallons, so it doesn't seem so bad in comparison.

 

I usually ride with my brother. He has a P650 and I have an Eiger. One of our last rides was in a lot of deep mud and high speed running on dirt/gravel roads. His prairie got just over 15mpg. My Eiger got 25mpg.

At times like that I like to remind him that he paid a lot more $$$ for his bike. LOL

Of course, then he'll just wait until we hit some long open road, open 'er up and wait for me to catch up.

Where I ride I can't really get on the motor too much so I get around 60 miles on a tank. One of my riding partners has a Prairie 300 and he doesn't get near the gas milage my 650 does. One difference may be that his is full time 4WD and I rarely have to lock my front end.

 

Thanks for the replys. I think my tires probably negatively effect my mileage. It may be little hard on gas but I wouldn't trade any of that power for better mileage [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

nyroc, I noticed you change your Mudzillas in the dry season. Have you noticed a mileage difference between stock and Mudzillas?

 

sorry, I have not kept track of my mileage before or after. Heck, I forget the camera more than I remember it.

The stock tires have such different rolling distances that they created more drag in 4x4 that I get now with bigger tires (no drag in 4x4). I don't drive that many miles in 4x4 though. I also feel that using the stock tires may cause more drivetrain wear in 4x4 than the bigger tires I now have.

 

I have got a long ride coming up tomarrow should be hard pack trail the whole way can anybody give me an idea on miles per gallon?
