Getting ready to purchase an IDS 2 pipe for my Lakota. Haven't made to many modifications, enjoy trail riding and all out fun. Question is do you guys think I need to jet the bike for the exhaust or should I leave it alone? Recent upgrades in ATV Connection Magazine for the Lakota really sound hot. Some people have informed me that you won't get anything out of jetting unless you are at Sea Level, sounds crazy. Second question - Should I buy the K&N jet kit or buy a single jet from a local dealer? While I am thinking about it Do you think rear wheel spacers will hold up to minor abuse? I am definately a weekend rider just out having fun. I am concerned that the wheel spacers bolts would break after a weekend of jumps and trails. I appreciate your help and response, from the earlier discussions I have read from the Lakota owners I feel like I can handle the jetting work.

rejet it is where you get the power the pipe just lets you go up on jeting without making it rich
i would buy a few single jets

I also have a 99 Lakota and I have a pipe on mine too. Yes you will get more power out of jetting up - it is well worth it! Just buy single jets, I would purchase 3 of them. The one that you think you need, and then the 2 on either side of that one just in case.
I also have the rear wheel spacers on it. I went with the front ones because they are only 1 1/2" thick which make the rear +3" total. If you order the rear ones they are 2 1/2" thick which I thought would be too wide being +5" total. The front and rear bolt patterns are identical so you can run the 1 1/2" ones if you prefer.
It is sooooooooo easy to change the jets on the Lakota. If you need help just PM me and I will do what I can to help. I also went up one size on my pilot jet, it makes it alot easier to start especially when cold outside.
Hope this helps...

Hay guys,

Not trying to start a jetting war, but have a little comment about it, of coarse!!!!

Just upping the main jet is just that upping the main not to run lean on top. With a dyno jet kit you get a new needle and a bunch of mains. And the sea level comment, well I've hierd it all now.

When you get a dynojet kit you will be instructed to drill the slide lift hole (drill provided in kit) this will lift the slide quicker, giving you a quicker rev. Then you install the dynojet needle, wich is a much more agressive needle, then turn out the air/fuel mixture screw 2 1/2 turns, this gives it a bit more bottom punch.

I swear by the dynojet mains over the stock keihin mains due to thier more procise fuel delivery, makes for easier circut tuning.

All in all the jet kit does alot for this machine. The lakota takes very well to mods, each one gives a noticiable difference.

If you go to rockymountainatv.com you can get the K&N filter, supertrap IDS2, dynojet jet kit and 13T counter sprocket for $300, this includes shipping.

With these mods you will be riding a totaly different machine, top speed on mine was 58MPH with these mods and throttle response was excellent.

About the higher pilot, I've tried the higher pilot even with the 322 kit and didn't have any luck, 2 1/2 turns was much better on the stock pilot. I see most poeple up north went to 3 turns on the pilot and a size higher on the main than me. This is probably due to the cooler dryer air up there.

A air/fuel mixture screw can be adjusted up to 4 turns out before a size larger pilot is needed.
