Anybody check out the letter to the editor somebody wrote about the Mojave looking for more power? The response was to rmove your stock airbox and make your own or use a clamp on. Anybody tried it? I know the clamp on K&N would be easy, and a few people have them on this site. I don't care for them because of the lack of water protection. I wonder how hard it would be to make your own airbox? I remember visiting a website where a guy made his own airbox for a three wheeler he was restoring. He used a tupperware box. No kidding.

I wonder if the airbox setup off another machine might be made to work? According to the letter, the stock air box strangles the Mojave and if you can increase the air flow you get a good increase of power from mid to top.

If you want to do it cheap, Go to the local machine shop and pick up some aluminumn and cut it bend it and get it all ready. Then take it to the machine shop and have them weld it. I bet you could build it yourself for around $30. I built one for my 01 Raptor and thats all it costed me.

you could even just get some sort of shroud that would go around the clamp on just to keep the splashes away

mtecate4g,
You've got me thinking! I need to pull off my rear fenders and get an idea of how much space is available. A guy would gain a lot of space around the engine by removing the stock airbox and snorkle.
