I am fixin to buy a 650 very soon., but I have two questions.

1. I am having a hard time deciding what color to get, I like them both a lot.
Are there any difference in how they look over time? Does one show scratches more or fade faster then the other?

2. I keep reading about the lack of a CVT drain on the 650. I don't know the clearence and whatnot, so is it possible to put a drain plug in it? A home made drain plug that can be removed for draining, but left in to be waterproof?

Thanks guys.

Hey Lurch,
How are you doing ? How are you liking GA ?

As you can see from the signature, I still have the Scrambler, and I bought an '02 Prairie 650 in August last year. This is a great quad, for being a 600 lb. utility, it would probably run right with the Scram when it was stock.
Here's a link to a photo of the 650 at work last summer 650 Prairie Photo

I haven't had to drain the CVT, but it couldn't be too difficult to add one.

I am liking it down here a lot. But one the reason for the new quad, is I am tired of the Georgia red clay getting spit all over me with the cheesy fenders on the Trail Blazer. LOL I will be keeping that one too, but I think I will like the 650 for the trails more.

HI Lurch77, for the colour thing, I must say one thing, i bought a red one, and when i was brand new, the fenders where alread looking lees glossy a certain places, this is nt a first from Kawa. I've seen it on green ones to, but on the green ones, it is less apparent. I most say that I am not impressed of the plastic on those quads, they tnd to be verry easy to scratch. By the way, does anybody have a trick to bring back the gloss on plastic fenders?? wax won't do the trick!!

Aside from getting into serious work, baby oil seems to make the plastic look a lot better, and hides scrathes.

My 650 is red, and I now wish it were green, but only because I took it hunting, and i wanted it to be a bit more hidden while parked.

Take a can of spray tire foam, I like STP brand, and spray it on the plastic and the tires. This will put on a temporary shine and hide scraches.
