650 Modifiaction Budget
#1
I am hoping you guys can help me make a list of modifications.
I will be looking to add an aftermarket exhaust. Is it possible to swap back to the stock exhaust in the fall for hunting and snow plowing to eleviate the noise problem of the aftermarket? i.e. are they simlpy bolted on? For pure trail performance which aftermarket exhaust is best?
Along with the exhaust, I would like to open up the air box a little. I've read the other topics and it seems to me uni-vents and an aftermarket filter should do fine.
Finally the stock tires obviously need to be scrapped. I ride dry, rocky trails in the summer and some snow in the winter. I'm thinking dirtdevils or maxis all-tracks.
So my question to all of you garage modifiers is in what order of increased performance should I budget these mods, and what mods am I missing, (dyno-jet)?

Traction is the most important item for performance. Tires would be my first change. The all-tracs are an awesome tire for what you say you ride. I rode with Mike Penland and Scott Kilby last weekend. They both race GNCC and both run the Maxxis All Tracs. I was seriously impressed with ths tire.
Exhaust, although different for each brand, is usually a simple deal to install. So swapping it back out is not that big of a problem. But remember that most times you will have to change jetting with a free flowing exhaust and air filter. So when you switch back you will most likely have to change the jets back a notch or two as well.
