question about supertrapp pipes
#1
How loud is a supertrapp with a race core?? Is it only load when you rev it or is it pretty loud at low rpm too?? I need an exhaust a litle more quiet than the white bros but I don't want to lose any power. Thanks alot.

Bigbad400- I'll let you know within a couple of days if I'm going to sell my pipe. Does anyone know if the supertrapp quiet core series will flow as much as the white bros since it has a headpipe too. Any help is appreciated.

In the paper work that comes with the supertrapp pipe it states that thier is no advantages from quiet core to race core unless internal engine mods are done.
The big difference that I found between the two (I have both) is the quiet cores flow maxxis out at about 10 disc, were the race core you can feel the difference when you add disc. meaning, you can pull all the disc out of the quiet core and it still flows no more than if you had 10 disc in.
The internal differences is, the race core has a straight threw 1" pipe that is perferated with a bunch of holes in it. Were the quiet core is 2 1" pipes that are off set in the center keeping it from flowing straight threw.
Before my engine mods I used the quiet core and I highly recomend it.

Gaff, I now have some mid-top megacycle cams and I also had my ports cleaned up a little and my exhaust port polished. Is the race core a lot louder than the quiet core or do you know if its quieter than the white bros I should say. I debating wether to add a quiet core from white bros along with some new packing since its probaly due anyway. I just wonder if the quiet core affects performance any. Thanks for your help gaff.

The quiet core is much quieter than any other. At idle it's close to stock, but opened up it's still pretty quiet.
Not sure how the race core compares to the white brothers. You know when your on it, it doesn't seem loud. I can say the race core is MUCH louder over the quiet core.
Cams don't realy add flow, just move the power around. Cams very rarely need jetting changes as well.
Removing the imperfections off the intake side and polishing the exhaust side will add flow thow.
I realy think thats a question I would call supertrapp about. I realy think they will tell you that the quiet core will be all rite.
I have run no disc in the quiet core and no disc in the race core, and thier realy isn't much difference. The race core moves the power much further up the RPM range were the quiet core gave me more bottom end.
I accidently had the quiet core in with my 322 kit during MX practice one day, man talk about monster bottom end, but the top faded pretty quick.
I guess what I'm saying is the more flow the more HP, but the HP is at the top, were the quiet core had less HP (how much I don't know) It had WAY more bottom end.
With the porting, cams, and big bore kits, it's realy all a top end thing. Like mine has probably a lil more bottom over stock, but has way more rev and has a 2 stroke sense around 2/3rds throttle wich realy rocks while racing but kinda kills the slow wheelying around stuff.
I have my set ups down to a science now were I just change counter sprockets and add the outerwares when I have the smaller sprocket on, and remove the outerwares when I have the bigger counter sprocket on. This way I don't have to play with jetting all the time.
But to be a woods rider the quiet core will be just fine, you will like it alot. To drag race or do MX or SX you realy need to just remove every thing except the end cap. The only way to keep up with the bigger bores is to have all completely top end, wich sucks for woods riding.
So now you see why I have both, I race as much as I can and still can swop a sprocket and core out and go woods riding with the kids and buds.

Mental, The supertrapp IDS race core is a little quieter than the 4 inch race pipe because the exhaust must come out radialy around the disc and then be forced to make a 90 degree turn to get out the back of the silencer. I have a race core 4 inch series and a race IDS. Both are loud when you get on it. The IDS is tolerable to me but that is preference. With the mods you have you should run the Race core and not the Quiet core. If you get the race core you can always reduce the number of disc, restricting the flow like a quiet core and thus lowering the noise and top end power. It will still be louder than a quiet core though.
Remember that the cams you have are going to move the power band higher in the rpm range. the good power will be past the stock rev limiter, that's why you got the klr box. All engine mods should work together and your exhaust needs to be good in the high range to match your other mods. That means a race core.
