Mojaveaddict:

I was just checking out the pics of your Mojave again,
(Sweet Mojave's) and wanted to ask you a few things about your quad. I was wondering what type of axle carrier that is on your Mo. Is it an aftermarket carrier for the mojave, and will it fit onto the stock swingarm? Also I wanted to ask you where or how you got the exhaust pipe coated? Thats the supertrapp header right?

Thanks

Thanks for the nice compliments. The carrier is made by Rad Mfg and you can buy them at several places. Look at the dirt wheels ads and you will see several companys that sell them. It is made for a mojave and will fit your stock swing arm. It comes in a tapered or double roller type, the tapered is about 20 more bucks. It also has a grease fitting in the housing so you can pack the housing and bearings full to keep out water. Magnum also makes a aftermarket carrier for the Mo but I have never seen one.

The pipe is a Supertrapp. I had it coated at Airborne Coatings in Charlotte NC. There are coating shops all around the country though that do aluminum/ceramic coating. I'm sure you can find one near you. Many powder coat shops do it. Ask the race car guys, they will know.

Just go to www.picturetrail.com/mojaveaddict

There are three albums of pics of my mo project from start to finish.
Check out the +3+1 arms, +2.75 swing arm, and antivibe steer stem. I made all of them from chromoly. There are several other custom mods I made as well. It uses Custom Axis shocks for a 250r with a nolink rear setup. Check out the mods to the frt of the frame where I cut the bumper loops off and welded in a bumper mount tube and then custom fit a AC bumper. There is also custom nerf bar mounts, shock res mounts, modded nerfs, custom skid plate, and other frame mods. Some pics have captions that explain what the mods are. Let me know what you think.

Mojaveaddict:

Hey thanks for the info. I'm going to check into all of that and try to find a coating shop around here. The heat from the exhaust doesn't mess with the coating at all does it?

Hey thanks again.

Hoss, the heat will not hurt the coating. It is made for high temps like exhaust. The coating will hold the heat in the pipe more, this will increase power and keep your leg cooler. If you pay a little extra they will coat the inside of the pipe too and it will retain the heat in the pipe even better. I just had the outside done. We went racing with Lurch awhile back and it had rained all day and the track was a muddy mess with that sticky clay type mud. The quads got mud built up all over them 6 or 8 inches thick. But the pipe was clean as a pin, the mud would not stick to it. That's when Lurch decided he had to have his done and he now has his coated.

Kid13, Lurch does have a nice mo. I think we have the two trickest mojaves around. It was nice having them in the same pit together and I forgot to make pics. Mine has just a little more frame and suspension mods but he has the best engine with the 330 and all the goodies. Best thing is he is a nice guy to go with it. My white mo actually has more engine mods than my green one. The green one is my sons, I built it for him and the engine has a high comp wiesco piston, stainless steel vales and hi rev springs from FST, supertrapp and rejetting with a K&N clamp on. We are sending the cylinder and case halves from my third mo to Mickey in the next week or so for a 330 kit. I already have a new 36 mm mikuni and some web cams i bought from Lurch waiting to go in the 330. I am porting the head now. The 330 will go in the green mo for my son. The white one has everything in the engine but a big bore kit and it is fast for a 250 cc ride.

I went and looked at the left wheel and it is slightly in at the bottom but not as bad as the picture looks. No matter though, as I have started a ground up custom build up project on it that will have more stuff than the green one. It will have the a arms, swing arm, steer stem (but not the wrist saver, that thing is just too much work with having to heat and sink in the frt of the gas tank) , and all the mods of the green one plus reversed pegs like Lurch recently did (he says they work great)and even more stuff done to lighten it up. It will have a Kawi green frame with blue plastic from a Lakota, race cut of course, and a blue swing arm and a arms. I like the blue and green together. I am thinking about using a motor from a klx300r if I can find one. I will Bore and stroke it to 385 cc, with mods and the 6 speed trans it has it should rock. I have not found a used engine to start the project with. Anybody know where a klx300r engine is. I was going to put in a Ninja 500 but that would not be legal to race. If I can't find the klx I will just build my mo engine.

sorry for the long post but it is sweet to have a bunch of mojave freaks to talk too. we are a rare breed you know.

Mojaveaddict:

Thanks again for the info. I was also thinking about that KLX300R. I was thinking about maybe putting it in a Mojave or Lakota frame. I think that engine would be nice in a quad, but I can't find anybody who has ever tried or who might know a little about it. It might be hard to find just the engine, if you can you might just go for a used bike, there are parts that you can use besides just the engine.

Well thanks again.
Hey if you find anything about the KLX300R, please let me know, I would like to see if it will work or not.
