It is the same exact quad, but in pictures it has diffent front plastic. On the atvconnection page, it says the 400 with 376cc and a lot of people thing this is referring to the sport model. This reference is to the new 400 utility atv's.

If You look closely at the Z400 and the KXF400, you will see som subtle differences. The front bumper is differenet, as well as the headpipes, engine, exhaust, header pipes (and someone said that they will be interchangable - I don't believe) exhaust (muffler) mounting point location, the subframe at the junction where the grab bar mounts, the nose piece, etc.
My opinion is that the engineering data and vendors were given (read: shared) with Kawasaki, and they built a quad close to, but not exactly like the Z400. Some expensive tooling (Plastic fender molds, airbox molds, etc) are probably shared and manufactured together also.

My 2 cents.

Yo Bama250R I noticed those differences also, but I still think that it has the same plastic because I noticed the black center-part on the front of the KFX looked like a clip-on or cover of some sort. Maybe I looked at it wrong but thats what it looked like ta me.

I do believe the kawasaki and the suzuki 400's are exactly the same. They may be a few subtle differences on plastic, but all the major parts are the same. This is no secret they are going to be swapping plastic with each other on a lot of different items. For instance check out suzuki's new rm60 and rm65. Looks very similar to a kx60 and kx65. That is because I would say 98% of the parts are the same. There is no problem with this, because if it was not for each other they would not be producing the line ups that are now avaliable for 2003. Put it this way yamaha and honda were eating there lunch, and this is a good way for them to afford to bring new products to the table and not have so much invested and will be able to keep prices down. 15 years ago I would have never believed these two companies would have to be doing this to be competitive.

Anyone fed up the the copying of the new Z is nuts. The benefits are overwhelming. With the Zuk, Kawi and Cat all coming out with the same quad, the amount of price of aftermarket parts increases alot.

The Kawi is better looking than the Z if you ask me. The Cat looks like a Yerf Dog for adults. The black plastic is horrible. The shape is worse. But Artic Cat guys are a loyal bunch and they will sell alot to guys with Cat sleds.
