#1
i own the P650 and went and bought the k&n jet kit, but with the factory settings i did not feel any gain. have been changing settings and cannot find a good setting. right now i'm running 132 main in the front and a 136 main in the rear with the needle notch on the 4th setting and the fuel mixture screw 3 turns out. I only have the stock muffler and k&n hi flow air filter. Is there anybody out there that has found some settings that they are pleased withif so could you help me out. Please help me i'm getting frusterated!!!

From what I have found most people are running the 128f and 132r mains in the fourth notch I'm not sure if they are using spaciers or not I am. I lost in top end about 10 mph but; they all have air box mods ( swiss cheese lids) or larger intakes. I have an intake coming from DiamondGracing and I hope that that was my problem. I will keep you posted. Nyroc has the jets at 130 and 134 because he modded his muffler but before he is running the same way I have it now ( I'm not sure about the spacers again) I figure I'm getting more gas and same amount of air so it should need more air. I have 27" Dirt devels and 2500 winch. i am rally hoping that getting the intake will salve my problems since this is the only difference that i have from every one else and there's are running great!

I think Mote is right, the air screws are ok and the needles 4th notch are fine ,the mains are about 2-3 sizes to rich, drop down to 128/132,or if you have them 126/130, and see if it helps.make sure the valves are in spec and the carb's are syncronized also as this will screw up the jetting....

Ok I have made my snorkel and modifed my exhaust. I must be running lean because I have some backfiring and a dead lowend pull. I order a jet kit from Moose and Kaw repair manual. Need some help on adjusting the carb does anyone have a trick on how to syncronize the carbs or should I just buy a syncronizer?

Chuck:
Setting carbs is easy, screw in screws till bike runs rough, turn out till bike wants to run fast then turn back to half way inbetween. For example if the bike runs rough at a half turn from bottom then turn out till bike wants to run fast say at 3 turns out, then turn air screw back to half way at 1 1/4 turns out from bottom can't go wrong. Do for both carbs by the way.

Doesn't matter although I chose to do the front one first as it has the smaller jet so I just wanted to stay consistant. It really doesn't matter it will all wash out in the end. Oh one thing that you might find helpfull, turn down your idle so you can tell the difference in operation faster than if idle is high. These mikuni carbs are for simple maintenance and operation. I thought 2 carbs, ooooh twice the head ache and if you mess up then its an expensive pick up and take to the dealer, OUCH. The only thing I can stress is when you take off the choke plunger assembly and put it back together, MAKE SURE YOU LUBE THE TUBE.
Keep the sunny side up.
