Gettin' ready to take delivery of my very first 4 wheeler ever! Of course it is the P650! I have done a ton of lurkin' here on the board and have ready everything that anyone has ever said about 4 wheelers and I had to go with the big Kaw. I feel that if a person is to jump into 4 wheelin' no sense of foolin' round! Me and some buddies are goin' ridin' July 4th weekend. (as soon as I finish my safety course, can't pass that up!) They both are drivin' yammie's (big bear 400's) can't wait. Wish me luck.
PS. Thanks for all of the posts and pics (would like to see some more pics though) you have helped me out tremendously! Maybe I'll see ya on the trails! (I live in Ohio very close to the west "by gawd" virginia.)

You're gonna ride a 650 with Big Bears? Funny.
Maybe you will convince one or two of them to buy a 650.
I feel sorry for my brother who has a Prairie 400 (even better than a big bear).I leave him in the dust, yet still wax him in the mud. Now he wishes he had a 650. I also powerslide and wheelie and other stuff he can't. People riding those older quads miss out on some fun.

I just had my 650 down in Chamberlain, SD for some rattlesnake and prairiedog hunting. The DNR gave me some looks as I was camoed out, gun boot toating my .22 and my IPI rack holding my AR-15. The .357 was on my shoulder holster. The ammo box and extra gas bungied to my rear rack; and water canteens bungeed up front.
What a BLAST! We camped on the Missouri River and drove into the hills in search of rock piles for rattlers and prairie dog towns for some long range shooting. Man these 650's are fun on the extreme hills. I was able to go back into the "outback" areas that few can only venture but on foot.
The downside, it was 106 degrees. One had to let the guns barrels cool often and dunk the 650 in creeks on occasion. But she never overheated on me.

Hey NYROC, You sound like all wheeling is to you is competition.
"I leave him in the dust, yet still wax him in the mud. Now he wishes he had a 650. I also powerslide and wheelie and other stuff he can't"
Why not just ride together and have fun, rather than making him wish he could buy a more expensive machine?
just my 2 cents.

Mr350x, I don't ride like you are thinkin, not competitive at all. It really does look lke that from what I wrote. I don't ride anywhere just to make myself look good to someone else. My brother told me that he wishes he at least had 2x4 mode, a diff lock, and maybe a few more ponies (without me being a butt in the least bit). Part of this feeling comes from the fact that I let him ride mine sometimes when the group is 1 quad short, he lets someone else ride his.
It is easy for the other guy to wish his quad was better when his machine can't do some stuff, regardless of whether the people he rides with are competitve or not. I see it all the time.
I have ridden around competitive people, makes it harder to enjoy the ride sometimes. I like riding with the easy going people.

Hello ConMan,
Congradulations on your new purchase. I will be purchasing my 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650 V-Twin this October. Please let me know what your thoughts are.
When I purchase my machine, I will be looking for people to go riding with. I would be glad to meet some people here on atvconnection.com. I think it will be a good time!

I agree nyroc. Just the short time that I have ridden, I find that those that have a lower skill level always tend to show off more. I find some of the most skilled riders are very easy going and generally more fun to hang with and they never complain because a less skilled rider gets stuck or slows the rest of the group down. I always find it amusing that some riders seem to be in a hurry to get somewhere. I would understand it if we were in a baja or something, but joy riding like most of us do, what's the point?
IronBear, I think you will love it, especially since it looks like you have been riding for a while. This is my first quad, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I rode some on a friends big bear, and there is no comparison there. Every other person that I ride with has a 400 or smaller and most have sports quads. All of them that have ridden mine always say the same thing, "I can't believe something so big can handle so well." It is truly a pleasure to ride. I always feel a great sense of quality when I ride it. Just like 3TV wrote a few posts back, it really seems to be put together very well. It is easy to service (at least from what little that I have done so far) It is fast (faster than anything that I will need if for) and it can almost climb a tree with the front locker lever pulled. I look for many good years of service out of mine. Kawasaki will probably have hovercrafts out before I wear mine out. Nice talking with you. Don't forget to write in October so I can hear what your thoughts are.

Ironbear:
I'm from Providence and a group of us ride in New Hampshire and Maine. I rode a few times with people from the A-T-V Time.com forum. Had a great time on a couple rides. Check out that forum, the New England section. I'd be more than happy to ride with you.
