At the ATV Drags, I saw this dark red 650 quad. Verrry fast. Verry cool. Were my eyes playing tricks on me? Are the 03s out yet? I want one!!! It did very well against 700 Sportsmans. Can't wait to get a up close look at this new color. Anyone seen the new 650s????

Yes the 03's are out. The color you most likely saw was the new Aztec red. What’s interesting is that some dealers have them and some don't yet? I'm planning on buying one very soon.

Hi Bram,

I plan on purchasing my 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650 V-Twin in October. If you purchase your machine before me, please give me some feedback on it.

Thanks,

IronBear

My neighbor has a '03 360. It is aztec red. It looks good. I got the camo 650 though. It does not show scratches. His bike shows them bigtime. Just something to think about.

I picked up my 03 last week..first one in the area..the aztec red is real cool but yes it shows scatches..so what,I didnt buy it to let it sit and look pretty..they all get scratches and it wouldnt be any fun if you didnt take it into the sticks ,thats what there made for right?....anyhow mine had to be special ordered..took several weeks to get here..and it was worth the wait, the machine is just awesome..I cant say enough good things about it..power,ride,all of it.the bronze colored rims and racks are sweet too.I dont think anything mechanical was changed this year..at least thats what the dealler said and I cant find anything on the net about it.Hey there Ironbear..your gonna love this machine!! have you rode 1 yet?

Hi Metallikev,

I'm glad to hear that you like your machine. Yes, I rode one and was very impressed.

By the way, does the 2003 Prairie 650 come with the trailer hitch? Also, where is Owego New York near? If it's upstate New York, I would love to go up there.

Thanks and keep posting your thoughts!,

Owego is about a half hour west of binghamton, were about 3 hours from albany..but yes the 03's come with a trailer hitch installed but dont have those nifty plastic holders on the racks..if you want to come to NY to ride it would be a lot more fun if I got the boys together and we all went to Tugg hill for a night or two..there are thousands of acres to ride up there..very possible to get lost or run out of gas..

Hi Metallikev,

Please keep me in mind in the fall. I would be very interested in going up to Tugg Hill. I love to see new trails and meet new people.

Are you talking about the plastic covers on the racks? If so, how come Kawasaki didn't make those standard on the 2003 models? Anyway, I'm glad the trailer hitch is standard.

There are not many good places to ride in Connectiuct, at least legal places to ride anyway.

Thanks Again,

hey there Bear..I know how you feel ..NY is one of the most anti-atv states in the north east..very few legal places to ride in the state..the Hill is one of only 3 or 4 places that are accessable and legal to ride.Im trying to organize the boys to ride up there, the only thing is it would be during the week...my bro and I work every week end..but im off all week tuesday-friday. as far as the rack covers go my dealer said that people where whining that the hitch was an add on on a machine that is geared toward utility use and so they scrapped the covers as standard equipment and went with the hitch instead..works for me....
