I was wondering if someone could help me. I was out riding last night and found that when I hit the 4wd switch it would not engage. The manual says that if this happens the 2wd light should flash for 1/2 second intervals. Mine does not flash. It is not the case of it being in 4wd and the indicator still reading 2wd. I checked that out already. Any info would be appreciated.

Check you speed sensor located on the belt cover at the rear to ensure it is plugged in or that there is not a problem in the circuit. If that checks look at the wiring to the fron that engages the four wheel drive to ensure the circuitry there is OK as well

I think that i read somewhere that if the engine brake fuse is gone or bypassed that it will not have 4_wheel drive, but i don't really know =).

Were you stuck in 2wd when you put it into 4x4 mode? If the rear tires are spinning faster than the fronts, it won't always properly go into 4x4.

I had the same problem. My actuator was bad, but it was replaced under warranty. A bad fuse may cause it not to engage also. Good luck.

This is a P-650, we are talking about, right?
The bike will not immediately go into 4X mode. Did you give it a little time? Check fuses, and the previously mentioned connectors. It is also possible that a loose belt flipped the switch to turn off the system. Were you trying to engage 4X while going over 12 MPH?

I have to agree with the fuse idea, same thing happened to my bike. You might replace the fuse even if it doesnt look blown, my fuse was not showing to be blown but it was! Just an idea...
