i was thinking about buying a 98 bayou 400 4x4. i was wondering how they are compared to the 350 big bear. someone said they are slower then the big bear. if it goes 50 mph then i will be happy. were there any engine problems with the 400? also how is the suspension? thanks for the help.

If you are looking for a good solid workhorse, the Bayou is a good choice. I believe top speed was 45-50,the suspension is a little stiff for aggressive trail riding,I think they had the semi-independent rear, that is 2 shocks so it pivots more than a pure solid axle, but I could be wrong. The motor should be real durable, never heard many complaints from old Kawy owners. The Bear is a bit sportier, top end around 50 or so. If you get a good price, and don't expect it to rail the trails like a sporty one,you should be happy. Hope most of the info is accurate, hope it helps you out.
