One of my front axle boots is leaking...I have the service manual and it does not look that hard to change. Have any of you had to replace a boot yet?

Is the boot puntured? OR is the clamp loose. I ride with 2 660 Grizz's, and they have had the clamps come loose. Seen it twice on them.

Encore, you are lucky it is your inboard boot that is leaking. If it was your outboard boot, then you have to change the inboard boot as well, as the inboard cv joint is the only one that can be taken apart. If you have a service manual, just follow the directions and it will be no problem. I had to change both my front outboard boots about three months ago and it was no problem. I got the cv boot kits through Kawie and they cost $28 Canadian per kit. Each kit contains two boots, two big clamps, two small clamps, and two tubes of special cv joint grease. Not a bad price for all that stuff. It's not a big job.

Hey Encore. Don't know where I got the idea that it was an inboard boot that is leaking. I just had a slurpee so maybe I got brainfrost!!!!!! Anyways, good luck with the fix.

The boot was punctured. I was going to order a boot kit from Gorilla but a friend of mine said just take it the local front wheel drive shop. So I pulled the axle and took it by there this morning. This guy had the boot I was needing. He sold it to me and put it on for $15 and had it ready by noon!!! I also had him go ahead and put the outer boot on while he had it. Total cost was only $30. He said that he sells the boot kits to all of the ATV shops in town and they mark them way up. This new boot must be twice as thick as the stock one. So if any of you tear an axle boot, check your local front wheel drive shop first. I am glad I did.
