at what speed does the prairie 650 shift into second, because i havent really even gone over 40 and i was wondering when it goes into second because i cant tell.
|
THERE IS NO 2ND GEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Prairie has no exact 1st 2nd 3rd etc, it is constantly shifting depending on load and engine speed. |
isnt it a 2 speed though?
|
Yes, there is a high and a low, but when going along in low, it DOES NOT shift to high!
Low limits the speed, but pulling power is better High utilizes the max speeds capable of the machine These clutches work similar to a snowmobile clutch. The belt gets squeezed and tightens as rpms increase and then the belt is let looser as rpms drop (very simplified) |
Packard, Do not move the shifter from high to low or revese when you are moving.
CVT stands for contiuously variable transmission. There are no discrete gear ratios between the maximum slow and the maximum fast, so you can't feel any shifting. If you get a notch in a pulley, you may feel it hanging up in one spot a little. |
Nyroc,
What?!? I can't shift from high to reverse as I am moving?! Are you sure that you have ridden a 4 wheeler before |
I said do not. It goes clackety clash if you do.
|
I would be surprised if that is all the noise it made.
PS. I WAS joking...you knew that...right? |
i`m biting my tounge on this........
|
its bleeding now... hey packard, did you, or do you ride the short bus to school? did you talk to the sales people? or just walk in and say"gimme one of those purdy quads over there. did you get a owners manual with it?
i don`t hit women or mentally challenged people. so, i`m gonna hold out my hand and by the time you run from st. louis you should have sufficent speed to knock some sense into you boy!! |
