i like the idea of honda expanding their atv line-up to a different looking quad, don't get me wrong the Foremans look nice......but a change was needed. the IRS is like magic, look at the sportsman's, they have a magic carpet ride, as well as the 660 grizz. also the disc brakes on the rear, this is a step in the right direction, IMO. the drums up front don't really matter to me, i rareley use them, but on my brothers 450 honda they are still like new, and he's had it for almost a year! (never even adjusted them up!) the engine breaking should do the braking for you (i know it does on the Kodiak) the 650 sounds peppy, and breaks a honda ute speed record! over 53mph! i can see where it is lacking, a high low tranny would be nice, the only reason i use low is to get better engine breaking on down hills. if the tranny is always looking for the right gear, then put it in ESP, i would rather shift a quad anyways (just my opinion)

i have a question for you, is the front diff like the one that first came out on the Rancher?? Traxlock? if it is then i see no need for a locker.

the price also isn't a factor for me, when they come on sale they are priced equal to everything else in their class.

i felt tjis thread was needed to show that i'm not as immature as some people may think, i just get sidetracked when people talk sh:t to me.

Don't come in here and start a Flame!!

RINCON:
BRAVO my boy BRAVO!!! Well Written, and I image spoken from the heart. I also like the looks of the Rincon (Very Sharp) Although, my Kawi's looks have grown on me quite a bit.
It's nice to see something unconventional (Case in point Bomb's new outlander). I also rarely use my front brakes...engine braking does alot, unless your riding like a savage... which has a tendency to happen from time to time.
But still my brakes should last forever(especially the rear...they really are a marvel) The front-diff on a rancher, I have no idea what it's like...although a riding buddy has one(nice bike) but rides rough with spider tracs on. I can't agree with you on the price...I have been told that it's going to retail for over $12000.00 Can. A P650,Grizz,or Pol Has never retailed that high, as far as I am aware.
Good post...

mark my words... if the protype is it the outlander is going to have serious brake issues and steering. when you turn one rotor goes forward and one goes back? This produces a funny feeling when you turn sharp and brake at the same time, really bad when backing quickly and turning and braking.

well we got a 450 honda for $6999 they retail for $8400. i agree i tend to get outta control from time to time (on my quad!) and the disc brakes don't seem any better than the drums on the honda's (but i guess they can just gear down) anyways i know the rincon will sell, i live in honda country (you see at least one honda on every rife (even if you go out in the middle of the week) i think i asked you this before, but paradise is in NFLd is it not? what a province! i have an uncle that live in Stephinville (sp) the Big reds (250 honda's) sell high over there don't they?

anyways back to the Rincon, well i think it's a good quad, i know the p650 is a power house, but there's more to a quad than just power!

ATV Paradise is NFLD, the three wheelers are slowly dissapearing in NFLD/ just like here. I think I'm now runnning across the rock two times next year. Stevenville is on the route, you can make it on the first night easy.

Anyone see ATV Television this week?

Doug Myers (dork) did a lame test ride of the Rincon at the Grand Canyon. It was like watching a bunch of senior citizens touring the canyon on golf carts. They talked 15 mins about the grand canyon and stupid stuff and then about 5 minutes on the Rincon (w/ 10 minutes of commercials).

Basically they said the IRS is the best out there and it is very comfortable, I really didn't see that. It looked like it was doing ok but just looked ok, didn't really see it working that great where they rode it. The grizz suspension looks a lot more beefier and plush than the Rincon did. They said acceleration isn't there, nor is top speed. It's similar to a 500 Sportsman (not HO). They also said that the transmission was always hunting for the right gear to be in. When they used ESP, they said that the gear ratios were so long that you may as well stay in one gear all the time. B/c of the transmission, towing and 'ripping' up the trails (aggressive riding) wasn't really an option at all.

Thats just what ATV Television said...I was just interested in it. I wouldn't believe them word for word, just like all the magazines out there, but take the good points and dismiss the bad until it can be proven with a test ride.

HI GUY'S;
Yes Paradise is in NFLD. It's on the East coast, It's basically a big suburb of ST.John's. I have been to Stephenville once. Newfoundland is quickly becoming a tourist attraction for ATVers all over. The Railway bed (Trailway as it is now known as) Stretches the length of the Island maybe(900kms) or so, and apparently is becoming a haven for quads.I hear there are a number of quad adventure packages available on the west coast. Matter of fact I read an article in a mag a little while ago about a familly from ONT. that took their Quads across on the ferry and stayed at a hotel in deer lake...they had pictures of the ride and scenery at the riding location was breathtaking. Apparently the tour operator is doing so well he is building a lodge right into the side of a mountain to cater to Quads and Ski-doos.I may have to check this out some time ( IT's a 7 hour drive for me)
My friends and I went to GrandFalls earlier the summer (to avail of the logging HIGHWAYS that travel deep into the interior and man that was incredible!) Pure stretches of dirt roads that stretched for ever!!!My cousin has a cabin there that he will rent for $30.00 a night!! It's a breathtaking place.( I have to get some pics on a website ) I have waited far too long to do this. A digital cam. is only good if you get to show off your pics.

Parker650- those comments that you say are on T.V. i find very very very very hard to believe. mabey the searching for the right gear thing, cause i know the traxter auto does the same. as for the long gears...DUH! it's a 3 speed man, obviously the gears need to be taller!

kawirob- all those places you mentioned i know of, Deer lake, Grand Falls...... the one thing that i've heard is that the trails are mainly gravel roads, which tend to get boring, especialy if it's dusty. but they would be great on snowmobiles! not saying they're not great on quads, just i like a mixture of trails. i bet they have some different trails too. the only thing that's so expensive for me is the ferry, it would be well over $200 truck trailer (3 quads) mabey some day though, i'm still young and full of pi$$ and vinegar!

Rincon;
The dirt roads can become boring if you let it...put her to the bar though and power slide around corners,or just cruise along with your buddies soaking up the scenery,stop for a break and wet a line and reel in some nice trout,etc...all fun. The logging roads are quite extensive yes...but there is no shortage of challenging trails about. According to the NFLD ATV association (I read it in a newspaper) There are approx. 100,000 quads users in this province...There are only maybe 500,000 residents in the province...so 1 in every 5 people is alot!!! Thus making our province a very interesting place to ride ( NO shortage of trails ,roads ,mud ,bog ,rocks , you name it it's here in spades.
