Help, Need ball joint and knuckle!
#1
I rollder my prairie 650 the other day and upon inspection of it I noticed excessive play in the from wheel at the knuckle. I took it to my dealer and they told me that I needed a ball joint (39186-1119) and a knuckle (59266-1127). They then went onto tell me that they couldn't get the part until mid November. I guess it's on backorder with Kawi. Does anyone know where I can find these parts before then?

I believe that the dealers reply should be considered bull crap. These are assembled in usa , they are too lazy to push the subject with kawi. Their parts system should tell where these parts are located any where in the world. If they dont get you answers let us knew maybe i can do some calling around in alberta on monday. maybe a lot of people can help out.Damn ,you buy the most expensive quad on market, that is being built every day and they want us to believe there are not any parts available. Yeah can see it all, today foreman at plant goes to management and says "well we cant build 650's today we cant get parts" yeah @#&#@!@ right.Sorry about ranting but this really bugs me.

Thanks Roscoe, I don't want to give too hard of a time because they know I rolled it and are doing it under warranty. Do you guys know of any web sites I can order from. Also, so these parts need to be replaced because of the roll or was it wear and tear (I only have 600 miles)?

I was dealing with kawi for over 5 years and I never had any issues waiting for parts before... but I feel the demand on P650 is very hard and Kawi really did not have this before the 650 was on the market. I think it is getting better now. When i first got my 650 I had this issue getting a belt... my dealer had 2 showroom bikes that he took the belts from to keep me running. After the first 4 months the P650 was on the market there's always been belts available.

<< I am having the same problem with a steering shaft.(i bent mine in a rollover) They told me it is on back order and could take a while to get. This sucks and i wonder if kawi is known for this problem? >>
YoeSeaOH; this problem is worse with some dealers than others. As an option on your steering shaft, take it to a machine shop. A good 1 off machine shop can cut off each end of your shaft and weld in a piece of solid aluminum roll stock with the turn down for the upper support. Did one this way for myself and it's not that hard. New shaft is like $140 and a good shop can do it for that or less. The solid shaft won't bend nearly as easy.

Hurt my 650 badly yesterday. I won't get into the sorted details but I need a new rear swingarm (the front section) and some other parts that received collateral damage. My dealer checked and should have the swingarm next Friday. $510 Can. for the housing alone. Short version: ran off the road on a newly built logging road. Muddy and too much speed when I hit the first sharp corner. It started to push badly and ran off into the well graded ditch. Thought I had it saved when I saw a 2 foot square jagged edge rock dead ahead. Went straight over it still going 15-20 MPH. As I bounced over it the swing-arm was sagged down and the rock caught the pivot point of the arm. It shattered on impact throwing the machine sideways and to a stop! When I saw pieces of aluminum and the propeller shaft laying in the mud I knew I had problems. The fact that one tire was against the floorboard and the other one was four feet behind it was also a good hint that I wasn't going anywhere quick.
