Have stock rims on 650. Thinking about getting Titan M/T 589s. Will the 27-9-12 & the 27-11-12 fit on the stock rims? Orginal tires are 25-8-12 & 25-10-12. Does the second number make that much differance?

Yes, they will fit the rims. 27"=overall height, 11"=tire height from rim to top of lugs, and 12"=wheel width size. (someone correct me if I am wrong here....but I think that is how it works...)

Question is, will they rub the fender wells when turning, and/or will they bottom out easier.

NYROC?

I am getting new 589 M/S's on mine as we speak (26&quot and will let you know my thoughts after I have put them thru their paces...

I have 28" mudzillas, and they don't hit anything. The fronts are 8" wide (but they are probably just about as wide as 9" 589s cuz mudzillas are wider than they say).

People have told me

1. The widest 28" tires on stock spacing make minor contact with the tank gard, and that the best solution is to trim the ***** a little rather than add spacers or get different wheels.

2. 28" tires may make minor front fender contact when bottoming out. This is worse with wider spaced front wheels. My mudzillas used to hit with more spacing, now I have stock spacing, they don't hit.

So, you are probably best off with the stock wheels with those 589's, but you should be able to get away with more spacing if you want it. Added spacing may cause a little minor fender contact. Bigger tires with more spacing would definitly cause more.

The reason spacing affects this is the fender contact point appears to be headlight housing, and the crown of the tire generally stays away from it better if the wheel spacing is stock.

The middle number is the width of the tire. Usually 1" difference will work just fine, you are only increasing the inside by 1/2" although the shape of the tire or profile may make it wider at the top than the stock was.

I have 26X9x12 589s on the front of my 650 and 26x12x12 on the rear. They do rub on my fuel tank guard a little, but I am not too worried about it. I have 1 1/4 inches of lift on my 650 so that helps a little to. I can't see a problem with mounting 27x11x12 589s on the back of your wheeler. They will fit on the stock rims no problem at all, and you shouldn't have any problems with clearance on that guard.

Mastrblastr....yours are really rubbbing even with a lift kit? Wow, I am going with them on a stock bike...now you got me thinking. Rubbing with just 1" more tire?

Thanks!!

mastrblastr, sounds like you have a problem man! I run 26x12 Dirt Devils on my rear and they don't come anywhere near scrubbing with my 300 lb butt on the machine. That's saying quite a bit considering my riding style and the fact that DDs are wide as hell. I'm actually thinking of stepping on up to 28s.

IIRC nyroc's mudzillas are 28s and he has no problem running without a lift either.

Muddhound, nothing wrong with my wheeler dude. When I got my 589s mounted, I noticed there wasn't much room between the tire and the fuel tank guard, but as I stated, it doesn't bother me. Actually, the scuff marks could be from mud, rocks, stumps, trees, or small woodland creatures that get stuck in the massive treads on the 589s, I'm not sure. All I know is there is scuff marks on the fuel tank guard. The only reason I lifted my quad is to get more clearance for riding in the snow (yes, it actually makes a difference). I could easily run these tires without a lift, I just preferred to lift it up.

Masterblaster,
"Small woodland creatures", too funny! I hate it when that happens. All the blood and guts get everywhere.
