Too much air for 650?
#1
I have been running my 650 with 22 one inch holes in the lid for around four months now. I turned the lid into swiss cheese because I wanted max air to match my big jets (132 136). It was running rich until I did this and added a DG snorkel. I was thinking about it and was wondering if I'm hurting anything. The plugs look perfect and it runs great, should I be worried? I'm considering jetting down to a 130, 134 and putting on a stock lid since the snorkel flows so well. I also consider the dial-a-jet because I will be running stealth exhaust with my procircuit exhaust during hunting season. Opinions??

Did you see my Post on the Dial a jet unit so far works excellent. I had to drop 2 sizes on my carb jets the carb jets are mostly used for idling and the dial jets don't come into play untill you rev it up. With this system no matter how you modd your bike all you have to do is reach in and turn a *** no more removing carbs. I am going to the mountains this weekend travelling up to 9000ft and I have had problems in the past predetermining the right jet to accomplish all around effeicencey and power. It is impossible to get the right combination for that difference in altitude even by adjusting your air screws. The Green Machine is scratching at the door in anticipation for the trip its all I can do to hold her back.
Personally I would leave your jets where they are especially if it works and runs well leave it be. I will post my results after the weekend, I think they will work excellent. Have fun.

alltoys, I will be eagerly awaiting your results. I read that this one is better than dial-a-jet http://www.holtzmaneng.com/left.htm . I think it's supposed to be more water proof and if it fails it goes to a jet that is too rich, not too lean. Has anyone heard of it?

That holzman stuff has got to be expensive.
Sometimes I am tempted to just go with the whole programmable unit from Haltech (fuel injection and direct fire Ignition). Those things aren't that hard to set up. I have done it twice. I would have to save some pennies first.

The TPI system has been in business for some time all the hot rod sled shops up here use them or a deriveative. If it water floods yes it goes to the richer unit but these have a water sensing valve so if it did get some h20 it wouldn't be that much.
Nyroc you say there is a fuel injection system out there, this is the way to go, pricey I hear. Do you have a number or web site to access the company I am interested.
