I am a kawi man at heart, so what am i going to do with the tecate4???? It has work dual rates with rezzies up front and good tires all the way around. It has a fmf pipe that needs to be rechromed? Anybody ever do that? And the front push bar could use some attention. So if you had 2500 to put in it, what would you do???

As an ex tecate owner i can tell you a few things that work on tecates. One thing they need badly is the swing arm a arms and axle are to short. I had plus 3 a arms on my tecate and a plus 2 swing arm with a plus 5 durable axle. I had a ported KX cylinder and head with an LA Sleeve 300cc big bore with a 38mm Kehin carb running the KX Procircuit pipe in mine. Boy did that thing scoot! But the engine work cost me $2000 to do. With the KX cylinder you have to run an older KX crank and rod since the KX has a 2mm longer stroke then the tecate. Or you can have some one stroke your crank and run the KX rod. Even with out doing the 300 kit and porting this thing would smoke piped shees. After the porting and 300 kit it was scary fast. Theres a guy from tenesse or arizone maybe(i forget where) Who deals with tecates. He i think now has a full blown tecate shop now. His name was cory sprock. He has and add in the back of the quad mags from time to time. He knows his stuff. You can get most parts for the tecate except for the stock plastic. Kawasaki quit making it and is no longer available. Maeir makes green only rear plastic. No white or front plastic. Hope i have helped. If yah ever need any help on tecate stuff you can email me. Not trashing your tecate, but consider this, you are going to put 2500 into an old quad that will be worth maybe 500 more when you get done. To me that's 2000 right down the toilet. Sell it, get what $$ you can and buy a quad with that $ plus your 2500 that will be worth something when you go to sell it. You will likely get a better performing more relaible quad that way also. I have no idea what your quad is worth, but if it were worth 2000 your would have 4500 and could find a banshee, 400ex or if your lucky a barely used z400. If you just have to go green and have a lot of patience you might find someone who buys a kfx400 and decided it was too much or something. Just my 2 cents.

 

450Honda, Why would you want to buy a slower quad than what you own. The Tecate-4 was faster than all your suggestions and is way high on the "cool" scale. I say put your money into your quad and enjoy beating all your freinds. My suggestion is to contact Allen Knowles of CT racing. He knows the Tecate-4 motor as good as anyone and can suggest what to do your motor. Stay on top of the maintenance and you will have a quad that is as reliable as any out there. Good Luck.

Okay the new budget is 650 dollars. I already bought a rad valve??125 dollars and a new silencer for 85.00 and a rear grab bar for 30.

I gave 1000 for the quad with, nerfs, kill switch and works with rezzies and good tires all around. I am having the shocks rebuilt for my weight for 100 doolars. the plastic is good, i am going to try some of that plastic renew on it. I still have 300 plus to go. A new piston for 80 dollars and some port and polish??? And you DS and Crf guys better watch out!!!!!!!


BNeed to rechrome the gnarly pipe. Budget just went of a little bit. The quad is really in good shape so for under 2 grand i can and will have a nice and different back up to the super chicken

 

Man 14mins, I wish I had 2.5k to push into my Shee. I couldnt wait to get a 500cc stroker kit.
