Default Steering wobble

OK, after I put the new Bearclaws on my 650, I noticed I had a steering wobble around 30-32 miles per hour on gravel roads in Colorado. The handlebars just shook back and forth an inch or so. Is this a problem with toe-in?

I had the same problem with ITP's. Set my toe-in/out to zero and didn't help much. Finally, had the front wheels balanced and one wheel took 14 oz. of weight. After balancing, everything was fine.

I have the same problem with ITP 589's and it's about 30-35 mph. But mine wobbles bad. I know my toe-in needs to be adjusted because it pulls back and forth instead of running an easy straight line. But it feels like the tires are way out of balance. I'm going to take the front wheels off and take them to the dealer to see if they can balance them.

RebelDS, I had the same problem with my Titan 589s. As I have stated before on this forum, my front end had severe wobble at around 35 mph. I took my front tires to a local tire shop to have them balanced and they were so far out of balance that the guy couldn't balance them. He phoned Titan and they replaced my front tires for free, stating that it was a manufacturers defect. Put the new skins on and it was like night and day. No problems anymore. Take Scootdogs advice. Definitely set your toe-in to about 1/16 of an inch. That will help a lot too.

Found an easy way to set toe-in. Jack up your quads front end and take off your front tires. Get two pieces of 1x1 aluminum angle about three feet long. Clamp them to your front brake rotors and hold them straight out front of your wheeler. Get a buddy to grab the front brakes and hold them. Measure the distance between the angles and adjust accordingly. It works real good.

Forgot to mention, you have to put a jackstand on the outside end of your a-arms and let your quad down so it is sitting like it normally would, before you start taking your measurements.

Well, I took my quad in to have the toe in set, and they did what they could, but the wobble or shake is still there between about 32 and 35, goes away after that. I am going to try and find a place to balance the tires tomorrow and see if that is the problem. Hopefully the atv motorsports place here balances the tires, I have checked with three car tire places so far, and they can't do it, says the hole is too big to fit their balancer.
