26" or 27" Kenda Bear Claws on P650?
HI ALL:
I have been waiting for weeks and weeks and weeks now, for my new 26" Kendas...apparently they are on back order from the manufacturer...several dealers including my buddy say the earliest is Dec. I am fed up with waiting and can hardly control my urge to buy another brand. However I came across a set of used 27" Kendas with 60kms on them. Should I get the 27"s or wait for the 26"s. I am concerned with loss of speed and handling with larger tires thus my choice of 26"s. I love to wheelie and ride like a savage, and was wondering if the 27"s would be suitable. I can get the 27"s for about the same price as the 26"s. Any input is welcome. I do mostly trail riding with intermittent mud and water crossings. As well, snow is a big factor here in the coming months. Thanks.

I wish I could be of assistance, but I can't! I opted for the 26" (against the urging of a friend who said that I should stay with 25" because the 26" would rob too much power). That same friend, (Partsman2), recently said that he wishes that he would have put 26" tires on his quad. For most riding situations they can't be beat. I know that the 26" rear tires are quite a bit wider than the 25". Are the 27" wider yet? Heavier than the 26? I don't know.
Good Luck in your decision.

I put 26'ers on mine and they have worked great. I ride in a lot of rocky terrain and that's where those 6 plys really shine. They are heavier than the stockers and I did lose some power, but overall, I'm quite pleased. Handling is much more responsive. Don't know how much difference between the 26's and 27's, height, weight, etc. Good luck on your choice.

Can not tell you much about weight or width but i can about size, 26" bearclaws measure 25", if i remember they can get up to 25.2" with about 5 to 6 lbs of air. Ran into this problem on a artic cat 300 , damn near ripped the front diff out. width seems normal and they have got lots of traction. tough too.
Still pi$$ed off on the size, to get even for this, i refuse to buy them now.

My step-dad has 27 inch bearclaws on his 650. From what you described you do the same type of riding, his bike is all stock and it wll still spin those 27's. The only thing I noticed is that they made some handlebar wobble on hard surfaces. As far as snow we have been riding around in a foot for the past couple weeks with no problems. With 4 psi in them it gave it 13 inches of gc at the floorboards. The 27 inchers are a little more aggressive then the 26 with deeper lugs and spaced out farther.
