I purchased a K&N filter when I first bought my ATV this fall. I haven't rejetted yet, and think that I might be lean. My question is, if I decide to use the K&N in the winter (when there is less dust), and a twinair or unifilter in the summer, will I need to rejet again? Is the K&N that much more efficient? I really don't want to keep changing the jets, so if it comes to that, I will probably just buy a foam filter and throw my K&N away (I have been scared by the anti K&N people I guess).

 

You shouldn't need to rejet since they are all high flow filters.

 

Don't chuck the K&N. Use a little grease around the edge to keep it from leaking. Sell it on ebay if you aren't going to use it. I haven't see even a speck of dirt in my airbox (like I did with the stock filter).

I haven't ever seen the filter material let dirt get by on anything I have owned.

The poor fit of the filters in a few machines allows them to leak dirt. Grease is a mess, I hate it, but it reallly works unless there is a large gap.

I am running my K&N durring the winter as well. (My K&N filter fits seems to have a good fit) . Durring the summer months I'll be using a uni filter.

where abouts do you ride?

 

I run mine the same as dash. See my sig. I did not rejet when I switched to the K&N but I think I was a little rich with the Uni and the K&N made it about right. I will probably rejet when I go back to the Uni.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]
